Here at Tattoo Erase we specialise in tattoo removals and fades using our state of the art Q Switched ND:Yag laser.
It works by firing short pulse of intense light through the skin, which is absorbed by the ink pigment causing it to break up. Your body see these particles as foreign objects so sends out white blood to clear them out of the body.
A common misconception is that the laser burns the tattoo out, whilst there is heat produced during the treatment, the skin is not broken as the laser penetrates through it.
As the particles are shattered a chemical reaction happens, carbon dioxide is released and causes a white 'frosting' to appear on the tattoo. This goes down after around 15-30 minutes and is always evident after the first session but reduces in further treatments.
There is many factors which come into place when it comes to how long a tattoo takes to be removed; How old the tattoo is, how it was tattooed, what inks were used, how your body heals etc. As a ball park figure, fades for cover ups take around 5-6 session and full removals 12-14.
We recommend booking in for a free consultation and patch test to give you a better idea of the removal process for you.
